The civic protest held yesterday evening in Tirana marked the highest number of participants since the start of the rallies against the government and the political class.
Thousands of citizens initially gathered in Skanderbeg Square, then marched towards the Prime Minister's Office, where the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard was filled with banners, flags and calls against the government, but also against the main figures of Albanian politics.
During the protest, slogans such as "Rama resigns", "Rama goes", "Don't be divided! Down with the patronageists", as well as calls demanding the removal of the political elite that has dominated Albanian public life for years were heard.
Meanwhile, organizers have announced the holding of another protest today, at 18:00 p.m. The rally will start from Skanderbeg Square and end in front of the Prime Minister's Office building.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Edi Rama and representatives of the majority have continued to minimize the protest, linking it to disinformation, political interests or external influences. In recent reactions, Rama has mocked protesters and public figures who have expressed support for the civic movement.
What began as an opposition to the Zvërnec project has gradually transformed into a broader protest against the government and the political system as a whole.
This was also reflected in the protesters' messages, where among the most heard slogans were: "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison", "Down with the political caste" and "Don't be divided! Down with the patronageists", expressing the dissatisfaction of a part of the citizens towards the entire Albanian political class.
