The citizens of Kosovo head to the ballot boxes today to elect the new composition of the Assembly, in the third parliamentary elections held in just 16 months.
The process comes after the elections of February 9 and December 28, 2025, as the country returned to elections again after failing to elect a president and resolve the political impasse.
According to the Central Election Commission, 2.092.174 citizens are eligible to vote. Voting is being held in 949 polling centers with 2.550 polling stations throughout Kosovo. The CEC has announced that these are the 11th national elections since the end of the war.
22 political parties and three pre-election coalitions are participating in the race. Vetëvendosje is running in coalition with Guxo, Alternativa and the Albanian Democratic Christian Party, while PDK, LDK and AAK are running alone.
Part of this race is also the country's former president, Vjosa Osmani, who leads the list for MPs of the LDK, the party she was a part of before her presidential mandate.
The Serbian List, the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, which is supported by official Belgrade, is also competing alone.
The diaspora voted in Kosovo's diplomatic missions a day ago. According to official data, out of 27.724 registered voters abroad, 22.414 citizens, or 80.85% of them, voted. The process took place in 30 diplomatic missions, including embassies and consulates in Europe, the USA and Canada.
The elections are also being followed with interest by the European Union, which has called for the creation of stable institutions to advance reforms and the European integration process.
The organization of the electoral process has cost the Kosovo budget more than 10.8 million euros.
