The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, began his official visit to Kosovo today, as part of his tour of the Western Balkans.
During his stay in Kosovo, Costa initially met with the acting President of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu. Afterwards, he is expected to hold a meeting with the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.
The visit of the President of the European Council comes at an important period for the region, as the Western Balkan countries continue their efforts to advance the European integration process and strengthen cooperation with the institutions of the European Union, writes RTK.
Following his visit to Kosovo, Costa will participate in the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat on June 5. The central theme of the summit will be "Shared Prosperity and Stability of the European Union and the Western Balkans."
This meeting will be attended by leaders of the European Union and countries in the region, who will discuss deepening political, economic and security cooperation, as well as further steps in the European integration process.
Costa's visit to Kosovo is considered an important signal of Brussels' increased commitment to the Western Balkans, at a time when the region's stability and European perspective remain key priorities for the European Union.
