18 miners have been trapped in the Trepca mine. According to an official announcement from the company, at around 01:30 on Thursday, there was an interruption in the electricity supply due to a defect, it writes Koha.
29 workers are reported to have exited the mine, while the remainder are expected to be evacuated "safely within a time frame of approximately two hours."
"According to information from the field, at the entrance to the flotation transformer, a line conductor has been disconnected, and as a result, the conductor insulators have been damaged, causing a fire in the transformer that supplies the flotation with electricity. Damage has also been identified in other conductor installations in the transformer," the announcement states.
The miners remained in various horizons up to 770 meters deep. They are in good health and constantly in communication with the teams on the ground.
