CEC: Deadline for new political entities in Kosovo closes on May 10 at midnight

The Central Election Commission has announced that the deadline for new political entities to apply for the upcoming parliamentary elections will close on May 10 at 24:00.

CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, has clarified that the certification process only applies to new political entities.

"Until May 10, new political entities (coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates) must submit online to the CEC, respectively to the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control, the application for certification for participation in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo. According to the Law on General Elections, a political party is automatically considered certified, therefore this process will only apply to new political entities, which in this case are coalitions, civic initiatives and independent candidates.", Elezi emphasized.

Meanwhile, until May 12 is the deadline for submitting lists of candidates for MPs from all political entities that will compete in the June 7 elections, writes RTK.

So far, out of 53 political parties registered in Kosovo, 22 of them have notified the CEC that they will participate in the June 7 elections, 9 others have announced their non-participation, and 3 different coalitions have been formed.
