Wednesday of the penultimate week of the Superior Category produced important verdicts and plenty of emotions at both ends of the table. In the spotlight was the “Albania Classic” at the “Selman Stërmasi” stadium, where Tirana achieved a vital 1-0 victory over Vllaznia.
This success moves the blue-and-whites up to sixth place with 41 points, giving them an almost mathematical certainty of staying in the elite next season.
On the other hand, it was a dark day for Flamurtari. The team from Vlorë were officially relegated to the First Division after a 1-1 draw with Teuta in Durrës.
Although the team from Vlorë scored first and tried to keep hope alive, the draw from Durrës doomed them definitively, ending a disappointing season for one of the historical names of Albanian football.
The race for survival remains open for the other teams. Vora managed to get a point of hope at the “Air Albania” stadium against Dinamo, in a match that ended 2-2.
The Voraks showed character by overturning a two-goal deficit. Also, Bylis has taken a big step towards standing after the 2-1 victory over Elbasan, making the last week of the championship extremely dramatic for the bottom of the table.
In Rrogozhina, Nevil Dede's debut on the Egnatia bench was successful. The Rrogozhina team defeated Partizan 2-0, showing good form in this final phase of the season.
As the battle for the title and Europe takes shape, all eyes will be on the final 90 minutes to see which team will join Flamurtari in the category below.
