The European envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen, will be in Pristina on April 15, where he will meet with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, a source in Brussels told Radio Free Europe.
REL has addressed the Government of Kosovo with questions regarding this meeting, regarding the topics expected to be discussed, and is awaiting responses.
Sorensen's visit to Pristina comes after he visited Belgrade on April 9, where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
The European envoy said that he held discussions with Vučić on advancing discussions on the main issues of the dialogue for the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as analyzing progress on the Law on Foreigners in Kosovo.
According to unofficial sources, intensive work is underway to organize a new round of dialogue at the leadership level. This is the main reason why Sorensen has recently intensified talks with various relevant factors, including the American side.
As diplomatic sources have told Radio Free Europe, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has expressed his willingness to go to Brussels to meet in the framework of the dialogue with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, but at the moment there is no confirmation of how ready the Kosovar leader is for this.
There has not been a high-level political meeting between Kosovo and Serbia since September 2023. The last meeting between Kurti and Vučić took place a few days before the armed attack in Banjska, Zvečan, for which Kosovo blames Serbia, but Belgrade denies any involvement.
During the attack carried out by a group of armed Serbs, a Kosovo policeman was killed. Meanwhile, three Serb attackers were also killed during the exchange of fire.
This attack further worsened the situation, while dialogue at the political level has remained frozen since that moment.
The European side, according to diplomatic sources of REL, would like to organize a round of dialogue in the coming weeks, at least before this summer.
If this happens, it would be the first meeting in three years, but also the first of its kind for Kaja Kallas, the head of European diplomacy.
She took office as the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in December 2024. Kallas has stated on several occasions that dialogue at the highest political level has not taken place due to the complicated political situation in both Kosovo and Serbia.
After the elections in Kosovo, held on December 28, 2025, she has expressed her willingness to organize a meeting of leaders "as soon as circumstances allow."REL
