US President Donald Trump has expelled popular conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson from his MAGA movement, saying Carlson has "lost his way."
The breaking point between them came over the US-Israeli attack on Iran, which Carlson has described as "utterly despicable and evil."
“Tucker has lost his way. I knew this a long time ago, and he is not MAGA,” Trump said in an interview with ABC News on Thursday.
“MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America First, and Tucker is none of that,” the American president added.
Carlson, the former Fox News host, had a privileged spot to speak at the 2024 Republican National Convention and interviewed Trump during his campaign. He now runs the Tucker Carlson Network, an online streaming platform that he increasingly uses to promote a non-interventionist foreign policy.
Last June, Trump called Carlson "weird" on Truth Social, after the journalist criticized those who were urging military action against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Trump has recently lost another prominent ally — former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. Their relationship soured late last year over the release of documents related to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Greene accused Trump of obstructing the disclosure of the documents and demanded full transparency, writes Rt.
Trump called him "a madman who speaks without rules," leading to Greene's resignation from Congress in January.
