The leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, has reacted to President Vjosa Osmani Sadriu's decision to dissolve the Kosovo Assembly, supporting and welcoming this decision.
Abdixhiku praised the responsibility and constitutional clarity shown by the president in this decision, emphasizing that it is in defense of the constitutional order and the normal functioning of the institutions of the Republic.
"I support and welcome, as expected, the decree and position of the President of the Republic, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, on the dissolution of the Parliament.
LDK appreciates the responsibility and constitutional clarity shown in this decision by it, in defense of the constitutional order and the normal functioning of the institutions of the Republic.
Political failure, along with dangerous tendencies of imposition and improvisation, cannot produce either artificial political debates or procedural delays that would transform our Republic into a country without norms and rules.
In this spirit, we are ready to participate in consultations to set the election date and to address the citizens for the new democratic solution.
Elections were never the LDK’s preferred alternative. On the contrary, they were completely unnecessary and easily avoidable. Unfortunately, the appetites for a one-party capture of all state positions prevented any eventual compromise. Now the decision belongs to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. In a democracy, the last word always belongs to the sovereign.”
