Hundreds arrested in Washington, DC, as Trump's federal security operation ramps up

Since Thursday, August 7, more than 450 arrests have been made in Washington, D.C., as part of a stepped-up federal anti-crime operation, according to White House officials, reports The Washington Post. Fox News.

Of these, 212 were not related to immigration issues, and 101 were committed in high-crime neighborhoods, Wards 7 and 8, according to data analysis conducted by the White House, Axios reports.

The arrests include charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, federal parole violation for burglary, murder, warrant for attempted murder, assault on a federal law enforcement officer, criminal assault and carrying a handgun without a permit.

Also, four homeless campsites were cleared on Monday, bringing the total to 48.

A White House official told Fox News, on condition of anonymity, that the numerous arrests show the administration's commitment to improving security in the city.

The White House also released data that contradicts a map published by The Washington Post, which purported to track bodies in the city.

"Facts are hard things to deny," White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson wrote on X on Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Assistant Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Tricia McLaughlin, said that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency is playing a critical role in the federal intervention to take control of the city.
