Rama in meeting with Tirana MPs: Thethi was not hit without cause, constructions are for profit, not for residence

Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting today with the deputies of the Tirana district and municipal leaders, to discuss the problems identified on the ground. The meeting, which was held at one of the hotels in the capital, follows a similar meeting two weeks ago, where Rama had asked the deputies to go out into the field and listen to the citizens.

Referring to the situation in Theth, Rama said that it is not the "poor people" who are being targeted, but individuals who have built in violation of the law, for profit purposes and not for residential purposes. According to him, "Thethi is not a place to stick your head in, but it is the postcard of Albania", while adding that 40 entities that had more than one construction site have been targeted.

The Prime Minister called on the KLP to take measures for Ms. Gjeli, while emphasizing that the state cannot amnesty lawbreakers.

"There is a theory to be regretted about who is to blame, it seems as if some of those commenting are trying to shift the blame to state structures.

We have poor people who have lost their livelihood to build some houses and on the other hand we have a state that let them do this in violation of the law and remembered to hit them. There are not some poor people, but some individuals who have risen to that point, some are not residents, These are individuals who have not appeared to claim anything. The police are investigating how it happened and who is behind the criminal occupation of the heart of Theth, which is the famous postcard, These are constructions that are not for show but for profit. I don't know if there is any theory that amnesties the lawbreaker.

The structures have their responsibility and have taken this responsibility, it remains to be seen what responsibility the KLP will take regarding Ms. Gjeli.

"I want to say that in Theth, 40 entities were targeted for having more than 1 building, but 2 and 3. The police have a considerable number of complaints, the prosecution has not taken up investigations."
