The Public Prosecution Office has announced that it is continuing with inspections and investigative measures regarding the tragedy at the "Pulse" discotheque in Koçan.
As part of the investigation, raids were conducted in Kocani and Skopje, where electronic equipment and evidence were seized, which have already been sent for expertise. The investigation is also involving the Financial Police, on suspicions of the involvement of various entities in the tragic event.
On Monday, the wife and daughter of the owner of the “Pulse” discotheque were arrested, while five phones confiscated during the operation are still in police custody. Authorities have also raided another property of the discotheque owner, as well as searched the offices of the State Market Inspectorate in Kocani. Meanwhile, the discotheque owner is in a hospital in Lithuania, where he is being treated along with three other patients.
The number of suspects in this case has reached 34, while an investigative procedure has been opened against 27 individuals and three legal entities. The initial investigations also involved seven police officers from the SPB Shtip and Kocani. The charges filed relate to the criminal offenses of “serious offenses against general security” and “causing general danger”. The investigations are being led by a team of 11 prosecutors from Skopje, Kocani and Shtip.
The tragedy occurred in the early hours of March 16, when over 650 people, mostly young people, were partying at the Pulse discotheque. During a performance by the music group DNK, a large fire suddenly broke out, killing 59 people and injuring over 190 others, some of whom are still in serious condition.
