"The West is increasing the pressure on us to recognize Kosovo" - Vucic

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Saturday that Western countries are increasing the pressure on Serbia to recognize Kosovo's independence.

He said in his speech to the public that three things are expected from Serbia.

"The first is the recognition of the self-proclaimed independence of Kosovo and Metohija and giving up support for Republika Srpska (one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina). The second is the introduction of sanctions against Russia and the adoption of an anti-"Chinese stance" and the third is the establishment of a "puppet regime" in Serbia., Vucic said.

The Serbian president said that the pressure on Serbia is exerted with the aim of destabilization, always synchronized, through the media and non-governmental organizations.

Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia in 2008, where most UN member states, including the US, Great Britain, France, Germany and Turkey, recognized it. Serbia, however, still considers Kosovo its territory.

NATO members Albania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Romania from the Balkan region joined Western sanctions against Russia and sent weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
