Departure of Albanians/ RCC analysis: The highest trend in the region for emigration

According to Top Channel The Regional Cooperation Council analyzed the results of the Security Barometer survey for 2023.

The economies of the Western Balkans, especially Albania, should be alarmed by the high potential of the population that wants to emigrate permanently, this council recommends, since the results of surveys from May to June of this year showed that 18% of Albanians have their suitcases ready for run out.

The figure is considered the highest in the Balkans, of people who want to emigrate. The report shows that Albania still has a high potential of leaving the country, especially for educated young people.

The survey that was conducted on about 6000 people in the Balkans showed that 31 percent of Albanians plan to leave the country. But most importantly, 18 percent of them already have plans and have found ways to escape. The results show that emigration in Albania is more aggressive than in other countries, as a greater percentage of Albanians do not want to emigrate temporarily but permanently.

Of the Albanians who have agreed to leave, almost 44% want to emigrate permanently, the highest level in the region. Those who intend to leave come more from the working age group of 18-44 years, while those who do not want to leave are over 45 years old.

The RCC analysis shows that such a trend will undoubtedly deepen the demographic crisis, due to a dangerous combination of continued migration and population aging.
