The meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was held at one of the secret villas of former Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito in Ohrid.
Vila Biljana is a state villa complex in Ohrid, North Macedonia. This villa complex includes the villa of the President of North Macedonia, the villa of the Prime Minister, and the villa of the Ministry of Police and some of the public administration.
During the communist era, this complex was owned by Josip Broz Tito, but is now owned by the government of North Macedonia. In the summer, the villas are used for vacations by Macedonian rulers. Vila Biljana in Ohrid, where today, the dialogue test between Kosovo and Serbia is being held, is located on a cliff, where a beautiful view of Lake Ohrid is visible. Since the villa is used to house high-ranking government politicians, public access is strictly prohibited and this villa is guarded day and night.
Otherwise, these are breathtaking villas, elegant residences built with the most expensive materials and the interior is as luxurious as if you were in a castle of a European royal nobleman. The 34 villas today do not have the splendor of their past, but most of them are preserved and authentic.
Recall, what is now one of the most fascinating territories in the Balkans, was still largely unexplored before. In the past, it was the border between Enver Hoxha's Albania and Josep Broz Tito's Yugoslavia. Both political leaders had favored the lake as a vacation destination. While the marshal once vacationed at Villa Biljana, near the city of Ohrid, Hoxha spent his summer days in the green village of Drilon, a few kilometers from Pogradec, the main Albanian city overlooking the lake.
Even in the room where the trilateral meeting between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was held today, mediated by the High Representative, Josep Borrell, and the Special Envoy for Dialogue Miroslav Lajčak, it can be seen that the tables, chairs and furniture have been preserved from the time they were built. /Klankosova.tv.
