The former leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, in an interview for Report Tv spoke for the first time about the "McGonigal" case.
Basha said that the case shows that segments of Albanian politics pay to throw mud at the political opponent as well as for the cementing of power.
The former leader of the Democratic Party emphasized that the whole issue is a slander that the world found out that they were paid for narrow political purposes.
"Just like in the 'McGonigal' case, the mud thrown at me has had only one function: cementing a power that has never had the national interest and the public interest as the most precious thing to protect but instead has shown itself willing to confront political opponents with their own personal interests. This is a slander that joins the slanders that the whole world has come to know that were paid for narrow political purposes, and the protagonists of the events themselves have rejected them". said Basha.
