The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during her visit to Skopje on Tuesday, also spoke about the tensions in the north of Kosovo on the border with Serbia.
Von der Leyen has asked the parties to de-escalate the situation in the north of Kosovo.
"I am concerned about the current crisis between Serbia and Kosovo. It is important now that things do not escalate and that the parties sit down at the negotiating table. The EU has a long history and is built on dialogue and close economic cooperation. When we started 70 years ago and after a terrible part of our history in the Second World War, it took a lot of dialogue and cooperation to heal the wounds to build friendship and based on trust came reconciliation. We need a negotiating table where we can talk about problems", said Ursula von der Leyen after the meeting with the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev.
