A large number of votes have turned out to be invalid from the elections held on April 25. According to the data of the CEC, until these moments of counting the votes of Albanian citizens, 1 million 506 thousand 861 valid votes have been cast, while a total of 76 thousand 308 votes have been declared invalid.
This is a relatively high figure considering the number of valid votes and the participation of citizens in the voting until these moments. In the 2017 elections, there were about 32 invalid votes in total.
The head of the CEC, Ilirjan Celibashi, has admitted in a statement to journalists that the large number of invalid votes so far is worrying.
The change in the ballot format may be one of the reasons why there is a high number of invalid ballots.
But yesterday there was also a denunciation from independent Vetëvendosje candidates that their votes are being invalidated by commissioners interfering in them.
It should be noted that while the vote counting process continues, it has not yet been officially announced what the turnout was in these elections.
