A serious incident occurred this morning in the city of Durrës. It is learned that a woman in her 60s attempted to set herself on fire with gasoline in front of the municipality.
This incident has created panic among citizens who witnessed the event. The woman was detained by the police and escorted to the police station.
"On 14.12.2020, at 10:10, in front of the Durrës Municipality, citizen FG, around 60 years old, was holding a bottle of gasoline in her hand and it is suspected that she intended to set herself on fire. Citizen FG was escorted by the General Patrol services to the Police premises.
"The investigation team and the Police services continue to work to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident."- says the police.
According to "Balkan Web" The woman spoke before the municipality about the great economic difficulties she is facing.
She says she only receives 70 old lek per month, her son is unemployed, and she herself cannot work.
The woman says that in these difficult conditions, where she has no money for medicine or food, her only option is to set herself on fire with gasoline.
The woman took a bottle of gasoline out of her bag, doused her legs, and set her pants on fire, but two police officers intervened and extinguished the fire.
