The head of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases in the USA, Dr. Anthony Fauci has said that citizens are not completely protected from the Covid-19 pandemic, if they do not wear glasses in addition to a mask.
In an interview with Dr. Jennifer Ashton, ABC News' chief medical correspondent, Fauci was asked if we could get to a point where not only masks will be mandatory, but also eye protection.
"Could be," he replied, explaining that the only way to have perfect protection from the virus is to protect the eyes as well as the mouth and nose.
"If you have glasses or eye shields, you should use them", he said. "It's not universally recommended, but if you really want to be thorough, you should probably use them as well."
Masks have already become a controversial topic in the US, with numerous viral videos showing citizens across the country clashing with others who refuse to wear masks.
