The police have arrested two people, one of whom is considered the representative of 'Ndragheta' in Albania, as part of an international operation to attack mafia groups in the field of drug trafficking.
The State Police gives details about the coded operation "Magma 2020", for the attack on the members of the "Ndrangheta" mafia organization.
According to the police, the operation took place at the same time in Albania, Italy, Argentina and Costa Rica. In our country, the citizen with the initials BS, nicknamed "Uncle", was caught, who is considered the representative of the Ndrangheta in Albania and the Balkans, and in particular the representative of the "Bellocco" mafia family. He is accused of having participated in the purchase of about 20 kilograms of cocaine in Spain.

6 wanted persons were arrested in Argentina, Albania and Costa Rica.
In the framework of this operation, Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with DVP Tirana and with the support of FAST ALBANIA, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department, captured and arrested for the purpose of extradition, BS citizen, called "Xhaxhai", representative of the Ndrangheta -s in Albania and in the Balkan area and in particular the representative of the "Bellocco" mafia family. The BS citizen participated in the purchase of about 20 kg of cocaine in Spain.
- Yes, as part of the operation, the arrest was made in Elbasan, on May 26, 2020, of the AC citizen, who was declared wanted.
At the same time, the following citizens were arrested in Argentina:
-FS, courier and confidant of Ndrangheta, who made the connection between South America and Calabria. This citizen performed various operational tasks and transport of secret documents on behalf of the criminal organization;
- GP, born in Rome, with the name MP, living in Buenos Aires, was the person who made the connections between the drug suppliers of South America and the Italian mafia families. He was also directly involved in the export of narcotic substances;
-FP, born in Argentina, a close collaborator of FM, who was also arrested in the operation carried out in November 2019. The citizen FP, thanks to his network of collaborators in Argentina, was mainly involved in bypassing customs controls and money laundering;
-With the cooperation of Interpol San Jose in Costa Rica, the citizen FD, born in Velletri/Italy, co-owner of a Casino hotel in Costa Rica, was arrested in the city of Jaco. This citizen had settled in Costa Rica and had become a point of reference for criminal organizations. His role was to make possible the shipment of cocaine to Italy, as well as to provide the organization's members with a logistical base and accommodation in Costa Rica.
This operation, coordinated with the forces of the Argentine Police, the Albanian Police and that of Costa Rica, as well as with UCI Albania, proves that the global approach to the Ndrangheta, achieved through the I-CAN project and international police cooperation, is the main way to combat a menace that has silently polluted the economy of over 30 countries around the world and that must be fought through a powerful network action.
