Gjiknuri rejects the DP's proposals, also talks about Meta's appeal

The SP representative at the electoral reform table, Gjiknuri, said after the end of today's meeting that the vetting process cannot be blocked due to the establishment of the Electoral College.

He added that the DP's proposal calls into question the justice reform.

'It does not seem normal that the vetting process is blocked due to the formation of the Electoral College. It would be reasonable for those who have passed the vetting to be part of it and also for the scale to be expanded. The DP cannot question the Justice Reform and what we have achieved. As for those who have passed the vetting, I even want the members of the Electoral College to be reduced, but I do not want to take positions because we are in negotiations. I hope that the opposition will bring all the proposals and concerns within the next week so that the time can then be used for compromises.' - said Gjiknuri.

Further, the former minister also mentioned the issue of the dissolution of parliament by the president, emphasizing that the DP had no reason to get involved in the president's game.

'I believe that the DP is for approving the Electoral Code in cooperation with us and the Assembly. If they have truly chosen to return to institutions, they do not need to get involved in the President's game. There is no discussion of a transitional government, those things that were not achieved through street fighting cannot be achieved through negotiations. It is something closed, I do not see it as a problem.' - said Gjiknuri.

The DP proposed today that a moratorium be imposed on the judges who would make up the Electoral College, which would exclude them from vetting until the end of their 4-year mandate.

According to the blue seat, vetting Electoral College judges puts them under pressure.
