Two people have been criminally prosecuted in Kakavija, after one was caught driving a stolen luxury car while the other was found with 70900 undeclared euros.
The first is a 21-year-old man from Berat, who was hit by a "Renault" type vehicle.
"Following the implementation of the tasks defined in the plan of measures for increasing controls at customs points, in order to prevent and combat illegality, as a result of detailed controls carried out by the Border Police, in cooperation with the customs services and Frontex , at the exit of the RSH, a Renault vehicle was blocked and seized, driven by Albanian citizen EX, 21 years old, born in Berat and resident in Greece. This citizen's vehicle resulted in mechanical interference with the chassis number."- says the police announcement.
The second has been identified as citizen Vasil Gjika, who was trying to cross the border with undeclared money. It is not known whether Gjika earned the money thanks to any illegal activity, while the police are investigating the case.
"Following the checks, a citizen with the initials VG, 49 years old, born in Saranda and resident in Greece, was caught. During the check, an amount of 70900 euros was found in his vehicle, which he had hidden in the vehicle, in order to avoid control.
As material evidence, 1 vehicle and an amount of 70900 euros were seized."- says the announcement.
The first investigative actions for these cases were carried out by DVP Gjirokastër, for the criminal offenses "Trafficking of motor vehicles" and "Non-declaration of money and valuables at the border" and the materials in charge of the two citizens were passed to the prosecution, for further actions .
