
The leader of the Democratic Party, Basha, has proposed 5 measures for the recovery of businesses affected by the earthquake.
After a meeting with representatives of the Durrës Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Basha said that the November 26 earthquake has caused major economic and social damage.
He added that the interruption and reduction of economic activity, damage to structures, machinery and inventory, financial bills, the suspension of work by a significant number of employees whose homes have been destroyed or severely damaged are the main problems facing the enterprise.
The Chief Democrat said that after consulting with representatives of the Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Durrës, with the economic team of the Democratic Party and the united opposition, and experts in the field, as well as based on similar experiences in neighboring countries, it was reached to propose 5 measures with immediate effect.
5 measures proposed by the DP
- Exemption from property tax and from all local taxes and fees during the reconstruction period for all economic operators with activity in the affected areas.
- Exemption from profit tax for all entities that re-invest the profit to recover earthquake damages.
- Suspension of social and health insurance contributions for the period until the recovery of damages and deferred payments to be made in installments after the recovery period.
- Exemption from VAT for all materials, raw materials, and capital assets used for damage recovery.
- Suspension and cancellation of energy and water bill payments during the state of natural disaster.
