On the occasion of "May 5", the country's president, Ilir Meta, participated in the homages held today at the "Martyrs of the Nation" cemetery where he closely honored the martyrs who gave their lives for the country's freedom. During his speech in front of the cameras, Meta called for reflection through political dialogue and putting the country's interests in the foreground.
"Today is a special day for all the Albanian people, because it is the Day of the Martyrs of freedom, of the Anti-fascist National Liberation War, first and foremost. It is the day of Qemal Stafa and all the young men and women of Albania, who made the most sublime sacrifices to restore freedom and independence to the country, but at the same time to place Albania on the right side of history, on the side where fortunately we are today."
"Today is a day of honoring the sacrifices of the martyrs, for their sacrifice, for their dreams, but it is also a day of reflection to prioritize the interests of the country, its European future, stability through dialogue and cooperation, so that their dreams are fully realized and that we truly honor, as we should, the memory of all those who have made the greatest, most sublime sacrifices for the future of Albania.", said President Ilir Meta.
