A Boeing 737 Max 8 plane from the fleet that has been grounded in many countries after two deadly crashes that killed hundreds made an emergency landing in Florida on Tuesday.
There were no passengers on board the aircraft as it was being transported from Orlando International Airport to Victorville, Calif., for short-term storage while the aircraft is inspected, the airline said.
Only a few minutes after takeoff the two pilots in the flight reported "a performance problem with one of the engines shortly after takeoff", the airline said.
"The crew followed protocol and landed safely at the airport."
The global fleet of 737 Max planes was grounded indefinitely on March 13 following two fatal accidents involving the plane in March and October.
It is not clear whether Tuesday's emergency landing is related to the suspected problems with the plane.
In the investigations so far related to fatal accidents, it is about an automated system and not engine problems.
