Gruevski admits that Tirana helped him escape

Former Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has admitted that he was helped by Tirana to escape to Hungary.

In his first interview with foreign television since receiving asylum in Hungary, Gruevski told the Serbian channel "TV Pink" that Serbia had no influence on his decisions to seek asylum in Hungary and that he arrived in Budapest from Tirana, via Montenegro and Serbia.

“As is known, the transportation depended on Hungarian diplomats. When I arrived at the embassy in Tirana, I requested political asylum due to political problems. After a certain period of time, I was admitted to the embassy, where I was informed that they would provide me with transportation to the Hungarian border, where the Hungarian immigration authorities would decide whether to grant me asylum or not. I received political asylum due to political problems,” Gruevski said.

Former Macedonian Prime Minister according to Blic-it Serbian, said that Hungary is a member of the EU and NATO and now as an asylum seeker he is protected from further political persecution.

He further specifies that there is an identity card for foreigners and passports that asylum seekers receive.  "I am a free man in this country", said Gruevski.
