The police have given details about the operation where a quantity of 1 ton of drugs was seized. According to the Blues, the operation started in the early hours of the morning with the dropping of the raft and then the pursuit continued in the sea.

In addition to the police of Fier and Vlora, the FNSH and the Guardia di Finanza also took part in the operation.

After the chase at sea, the traffickers entered the Vjosa estuary and then managed to escape by losing their tracks in the forest.

The State Police in cooperation with the partners of the Guardia di Finanza have prevented an attempt to traffic narcotics through the sea towards Italy. The operation began around 03:30 in the morning, when the vessel was spotted several miles out to sea.

The Border Police of Vlora and the GdF have continued the pursuit at sea. The operational forces of FNSH Fier and the local police of Fier and Vlora have organized the work by patrolling with several groups from the ground, despite the difficult weather conditions. The police chase forced the traffickers into the river mouth.

 There they abandoned the boat and the narcotics on the edge of the Vjosa river, near the village of Bishan. Taking advantage of the darkness, the suspects left in the direction of the forest. Police forces have surrounded the area and continue the pursuit for their capture.

The police seized 1 boat, 2 vehicles, a quantity of suspected narcotic substance cannabis, as well as other evidence that helps the investigation.

Under the direction of a special group, intensive investigations are continuing to arrest the persons involved in this criminal activity and bring them to justice." - says the announcement.
