Despite the rain, the residents of Unaza e Re did not stop their protest until late in the evening. They opposed the municipal police of the capital, who for two days have been trying to pull down the lighting poles on both sides of the street, managing to remove some of them.
Through their Facebook page, the residents of Astir have published a video of their resistance amidst the rain and darkness, where despite the cold of the evening, they did not stop calling.
"Here it is only the spirit of the residents that is keeping this protest alive... many people remember that this protest is being held by the DP. We have never seen the DP protesting like this, giving its soul... we welcome every political party to give their support. But where are the defense unions?? All sold out.", it is said alongside the published video.
"Come on, Fiku, come on, we're waiting for you. We never give up.", the voice of a protester is heard.
They are demanding compensation for their apartments according to market value. The residents said yesterday that the meeting with Mayor Erion Veliaj was attended by administration employees and citizens who made compromises with the mayor.
""Everything Erion Veliaj says is a living deception. The people protesting for the houses are only here. Then the bargains of some pseudo-residents are something else. No protester protesting here has been in a meeting with Veliaj. We are not giving up our houses. Erion Veliaj is deceiving," a resident told the media yesterday.
